3) 刘思娴
4) 刘宣慧
5) 刘芮绮

My first blog - At Birth (Week 1)

Hi, allow me to introduce myself. I am Shernice Low. After staying comfortably in my mummy’s womb for exactly 40 weeks, I have finally appeared to see the world on 27th Dec ’09.
It happened on 27th Dec ’09, about 3am. I had already been very patient to wait till this day, so have decided to make some “impacts” on mummy. Fortunately, mummy felt it; daddy got woke up even though he was a heavy sleeper. Good! I heard them discussing whether to visit Thomas Medical Centre then, or wait till 2pm appointment set by my gynecologist. Oh, still discussing… indecisive… alright, I kicked again. Haha… Finally, I heard daddy said, “wash up, let’s head to medical centre”. GREAT CHOICE!

Upon reaching the hospital after 5am, mummy and I were placed in observatory ward. Oh, my kick caused 1cm opening. “Mummy… sorry about that…”. Dad helped with the registration before visiting me… erh… mummy. (1cm opening only, can’t even see me mah).

My gynecologist came and burst the water bag. Oh, I felt my protective layer missing, but this process brought me closer to delivery woh! Eventually at 9am, mummy and I were pushed to birth room 8.

As we waited, mummy was showing good sign of opening. Unfortunately, it also meant mummy was feeling more contraction pain... Mummy thought she was “tough”… but daddy finally convinced mummy to go for the epidural, the “pain killer”.

What happened was this: The anesthesiologist had mummy lie by the sides and bend over so he can look at the back. The whole process was no big deal, mummy did not have any immediate side effect such as vomit, etc. The pain relief came and it did help to improve the tense environment.

It was definitely a long wait until around 240pm, when it is time for the real action! The mid-wife, mummy and daddy were executing all sorts of breathing, counting, pushing exercises to push me out of the 10cm opening! My gynecologist arrived and monitored the process. Wait…. What’s that??? Vacuum cup??! Was I a difficult baby that you had to use that meh??! Aiyoh, cup on my head already! MUMMY PUSH! PUSH! PUSH!

FINALLY! At 0318pm, the person I saw was… not daddy… not mummy… gynecologist! So you were the one who put the cup on my head! But hello Mummy, hello daddy!

So the following are my vital statistics:

I can feel my daddy and mummy are a happy parent. By the way, allow me to introduce again : My name is Shernice Low. My daddy and mummy is Low Soon Heng and Sandy Neo and we are a happy family of three!!!

And before I ended, take a good look at my mummy relaxing mood after giving birth!
